The Macclesfield Community Biochar Centre is a not-for-profit organisation set up to convert tree litter from local households, landowners and businesses to biochar and thereby capture carbon, offset and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create voluntary carbon offsets to trade. Registered household suppliers have the greenhouse gases produced by their electricity consumption offset by the greenhouse gases captured by the Centre.
