Earth-friendly!

Maccy Biochar operates a not for profit community biochar centre in Macclesfield, South Australia. We take your dead woody material and convert it to carbon-negative biochar to use as the basis for earth-friendly fertilizers for home and farm; and for other biochar-based products. Buy our bulk biochar to sequester carbon and improve your soil. You may either use the Order Form below or contact us directly.

The Power of Soil

At maccybiochar we recognise that the properties of our soil will determine what and how much we can grow in it. We aim to help you make your soils ‘happier’, richer and more productive. This image of a particle of biochar showing its amazing number of micro-pores demonstrates why biochar is able to hold so much moisture in the soil together with soluble nutrients needed by plants to thrive. These pores also provide habitat for microscopic life forms that interact with the roots of plants and help sustain them.

So Why Make Biochar

Young Explorers

At maccybiochar we encourage young people to learn more about the carbon cycle and how to capture carbon for the soil. Check our Application Note for Schools here. We can also provide your school with advice and instructions on making your own biochar kiln to help make your school carbon neutral. CALL US to arrange for a volunteer to visit you.

Expanding the Biochar World

CONTACT maccybiochar if you need help with setting up your own Community Biochar Centre. Arrange a workshop with us to show you how it is done and then let us help you set up your own group. All our documents are freely available as templates for you to use. And affiliated groups can have a free page on our website to help you promote your group.

ACTION PLAN

“Every bit of biochar makes a difference. The more biochar makers we have on this planet, the more we can reduce the effects of global warming.” Jeff Cox, Gardening with Biochar. Storey Publishing 2019.

You too can do your bit to fight global warming by simply digging a hole in your own backyard and making carbon-negative biochar. For more details go to our post here. Or download a pdf of the post here.
